Quran Tajweed Course By Noor Spark Quran
The word Tajweed (تجويد) comes from the Arabic root “jawwada”, meaning “to make better” or “to improve”. In Islamic terminology, Tajweed refers to the set of rules that govern the correct pronunciation of every letter and word in the Holy Quran.
A Quran Tajweed course is a structured learning program available both online and offline that teaches students these pronunciation rules systematically. It helps Muslims recite the Quran the way it was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and as it has been transmitted through generations of scholars.
Allah says in the Quran:
“And recite the Quran with measured recitation.” — Surah Al-Muzzammil (73:4)
This verse is a direct divine command to apply Tajweed. It is not optional. It is an obligation (Fard ‘Ayn) for every Muslim who recites the Quran — and a Quran Tajweed course is the best way to fulfill this obligation properly.
Why Is Tajweed So Important?
- It protects the meaning of the Quran from distortion (a single mispronunciation can change a word’s meaning entirely)
- It beautifies your recitation and deepens your connection with the words of Allah
- It helps you recite the Quran the way the Prophet (PBUH) recited it
- It earns you greater spiritual reward — the Prophet (PBUH) said the skilled reciter will be with the noble, righteous angels
- It builds your confidence in Salah (prayer) by ensuring your recitation is correct.
Many students believe that memorizing (Hifz) and learning Tajweed are two separate paths. In reality, they are deeply intertwined. Attempting to memorize Quranic verses with faulty pronunciation creates bad habits that are incredibly difficult to unlearn later.
When you learn through a proper Quran Tajweed course, your muscle memory adapts to the correct sounds. This phonetic structure actually makes memorization faster and more permanent because your brain associates the rhythm of the verse with its textual sequence.
3 Core Pillars of Tajweed-Based Memorization
To memorize successfully while maintaining flawless recitation rules, you must focus on three essential areas of Arabic phonetics:
1. Articulation Points (Makharij al-Huroof)
There are 17 specific articulation points in the throat, tongue, lips, nose, and empty space of the mouth where Arabic letters originate. Distinguishing between similar-sounding letters—like Haa and Khaa or Taa and is the absolute bedrock of Tajweed.
2. Rules of Nun Sakinah and Tanween
Whenever a quiet Nun or a double vowel sound appears, it changes how the sound transitions into the next word. Students learn the four primary treatments:
Ith-har (Clear pronunciation)
Idgham (Merging of letters)
Iqlab (Converting the sound to a Meem)
Ikhfa (Hiding or nasalizing the sound)
3. Elongation Rules (Madd)
Madd rules dictate how long a vowel sound should be stretched. Depending on the grammar and surrounding letters, a sound might be stretched for two, four, or six counts. Mastering these beats creates the signature melodic flow of Quranic recitation.

FAQ's
Q1: What is the duration of a Quran Tajweed Course?
This is dependent upon your starting point and how much you practice. It takes a complete beginner 6 months to 2 years to achieve an advanced level. Most students experience significant results within the 3 month period with 30 minute sessions daily, and regular practice.
Q2: Can an adult learn Tajweed or is it reserved for children?
Never is too late to begin! The reason for the fast progress of adults in a Quran Tajweed Course is that adults can grasp the abstract grammar and the languages spoken much quicker than young children.
Q3: What is the difference between Tajweed and Tarteel?
Tajweed is the system of rules of pronunciation. Tarteel is a style of slow measured clear recitation as mentioned in the Quran (73:4). Tajweed is a set of rules to be followed within the style of tarteel.
Q4:Does the memorization of Tajweed have to be done by all Muslims?
Most experts have come to the consensus that memorizing the rudiments of Tajweed to ensure that there are no major errors made (Lahn Jali) that leads to the alteration in the meaning of the words is obligatory upon every Muslim who recites the Quran for the sake of Allah SWT in prayer.
Q5: Do I have to know Arabic to learn Tajweed?
Tajweed is not translation, not grammar, but rather phonetics and pronunciation. Many people who don't speak Arabic fluently are able to do the Tajweed courses and recite beautifully and do not speak Arabic conversational speech. dd Your Heading Text Here
